Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 19th September 2002

In Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

LAST MINUTES AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM

The last minutes of the 22nd August 2002 were read and agreed as a true record.

Doggie Bins and Litter Bins - on waiting list.

Walls at Betsy's Cottages and Castlehill Avenue- have been repaired.

Wall in front of Pentland Place needs attention.

Footpath Group- nothing to report. Letter had been sent to Jim Marshall re. Riders Access Group.

Bathing Water Results-Letter from David Robinson- SEPA- saying that Dunnet is tested on a regular basis and only on an occasion at Castletown. Disinfection equipment being installed 2003 should improve discharge.

Morrison's Garage ( scrap cars & buses) - now being attended to.

Clean Coast Scotland Campaign- no progress.

New Police Officer- no progress.

Delta North- Proposed Waste Water Treatment Plant. Reply from Sandy Hutchison- Scottish Water- answering all questions. Peter Wilson- Senior Project Manager- will explain everything to us at a meeting if required.

Perspex needed for noticeboard- make enquiries at jobs 4 all.

3/ PROPOSED NEW BASKETBALL/ SPORTS AREA.

No reply from Mrs. Grant re. confirmation of availability of ground. PFTA and Football Club cannot help. K. Stone and W. Reid to get a list of signatures of interested youngsters and if possible their parents. I. Moodie to contact George Ewing to see if he would approach Mrs. Grant again.

4/ HOUSING SURVEY.

Reply from Alan Ogilvie. He will be looking into the matters raised, speaking to land owners?

5/ VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE.

School grass cutting. Innes would do it if provided with suitable mower. Wood missing from Heritage Trail. Table at Harbour needing repaired. More material required for Sand- End etc. Burn clean up. Contact Dunnet Bay Initiative and SNH re. funding or sponsorship for cleaning.

6/ PURCHASE OF NEW MOWER.

£100 received from UKAEA. Maybe funding would be available from Highland Council if mower is to be used for school grass cutting.

7/ CASTLEHILL HARBOUR TRUST.

Two had expressed an interest in helping to repair holes at pier. Also £25 donation received towards expenses. Tides to be checked with either 13th or 20th October, possible dates for the work to be carried out. Other names suggested as possible volunteers. News item in the Press.

8/ CLOSURE OF A&E DEPARTMENT AT DUNBAR HOSPITAL.

Latest comments , department to be Nurse led. Letter to be sent to Trust re. loss of NHS Dentists, due to retirement.

9/ CORRESPONDENCE

Letters received were discussed and noted as follows:-

Reply from Brian Whitelaw re. payment towards Flower Baskets etc. £254 received instead of what seemed to be £500. Apparently misunderstanding on receipts required. Further information had been forwarded to the Council. Meeting for funding towards Christmas Lights being held tonight (Thursday 19th September), representatives in attendance.

Pentland Housing Association AGM - Saturday 28th September 2002.

Parking at Mace Shop and Post Office. Letter to be sent to Inspector M.Reiss, Thurso re. above.

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Tuesday 22nd October 2002 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall.
