Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 29th May 2003

In Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

2/ LAST MINUTES AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The last minutes of the 22nd April 2003 were read and agreed as a true record.

Clean Coast Scotland Campaign- no reply from Ian Hargrave.

Village Officer Funding- cheque for £1666 received from Highland

Council, Match funding sought from CASE.

3/ PROPOSED NEW BASKETBALL/ SPORTS AREA

Possible sources of funding:- Lottery- Awards for All, CASE, New Opportunities Fund. Package to be put together.

4/ VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE

Rubbish at Churchill Road has not been attended to. Grass cutting in Coach Walk not satisfactory. Churchyard not satisfactory. Sandy Gordon to be contacted regarding Coach walk and Churchyard. Query as to whether Planning Permission is required for painting of walls around houses. Query as to how many animals can be kept in a Council House. Heritage Trail- possible erection of " No Bicycle Signs". Strimmer not going- difficulty in getting parts. Only purchased in August 2001.

5/ PUTTING GREEN

No further forward.

6/ PARKING AT MACE SHOP AND POST OFFICE.

Letter received from Inspector Reiss. Only solution seems to be yellow lines again. Possible erection of barriers to stop cars mounting the pavement outside the shop. As mentioned previously, a " crossing point" near the Post Office for School children was suggested. This would have to be put forward by the School Board. Also a Stop sign coming from Wick at the junction.

Using a Tablet PC David Swanson demonstrated how he had set up a Website for the Community Council. www.castletown-caithness.co.uk

8/ CORRESPONDENCE

Association of Community Councils to meet twice a year, with each Community Council taking a turn to host meeting. Meeting in Lieurary Hall on Saturday 31st May 2003 to discuss plan for 3 Wind Farms.

Meeting in Inverness on Monday 2nd June 2003 to discuss the shortage of NHS Dentists. Paul Martin - Chief Executive NHS Trust in attendance. John Crowden to attend this meeting.
