Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 21st August 2003

In Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

LAST MINUTES AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The last minutes of the 26th June 2003 were read and agreed as a true record.

Clean Coast Scotland Campaign- Ian Hargrave to arrange a meeting with Community Councils with coast lines.

Village Officer Funding- still no response from CASE.

Scottish Water re new Sewerage Plant- no reply.

3/PROPOSED NEW BASKETBALL/ SPORTS AREA.

Prices to be sought from local contractors and a south company, also a further agreement made with Norfrost. Highland Council to possibly provide a grant of £2000. Tina Robinson and Niall Smith suggested contacts for advice on funding.

4/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE.

Rubbish still not cleared from Churchill Road. Council will need to attend to this also help to keep it tidy in the future. Larger bin needed at the Sand- End. Notice board has been burnt again. Cost of replacing perspex is £12. Other repairs also needed- window frames etc. Bridge at Jesson’s Path has been repaired.

5/PUTTING GREEN.

Unless a use is identified for the Putting Green the wooden hut may have to be demolished and perhaps the fence removed as both are in a dangerous condition. Skatepark still being suggested as a possible use.

6/PARKING AT MACE SHOP AND POST OFFICE.

Regarding Mace Shop no further forward. Approach to be made to the School to see if perhaps the Parent Teacher Association would be willing to take forward the "Safer routes to School".

Concern was expressed about the number of turbines being proposed. Not everyone was concerned as some felt that it was the way forward.

Quarry Grants.

Money available to areas where there has been a working quarry.

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Thursday 18th September 2003 at 7:30pm. in the Castletown Drill Hall.
