Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 24th June 2004

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The minutes of the last meeting held on 18th May 2004 were read and agreed as a true record.

Project to improve village: Interested Local Groups- Castletown in Bloom, Heritage Society, Cubs. Suggested areas- Olrig Place, Wild Flower Meadow, linking to Heritage. Cemetery.

Dornoch Firth Rail Crossing: no cost feasibility study to take place.

Bus Shelters: no further forward. Possible date asked for.

Maternity Unit: demonstration outside Scottish Parliament

took place. No positive answers.

3/PROPOSED NEW BASKETBALL/ SPORTS AREA.

No further forward. Sealed drawing to be forwarded to 2 suppliers.

4/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE.

Letters had been forwarded to both BT and Scottish Water expressing concern at the way in which they left the areas where they had been working.
Notice Board again discussed as was dog fouling. Suggested wheelie bins instead of small doggie bins.
White goods such as washing machines in gardens and on pavements becoming a problem.
Parking in MacKay Street- suggested restrictions of some kind.
School Car Park- no proper lay out. Mention was made of the good job carried out by the Council in tidying up the school area.
Mention was made of quad bikes and small motor bikes running on the beach and in the plantation.
Funding for Village Officer- confirmation of last years duties to be forwarded to R.Guest.

Since timetable was changed Saturday bus service has been greatly reduced. Letters to be sent to A.Goodall of Rapsons and Highland Council.

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Thursday 19th August 2004 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall.
