Minutes of meeting held on Tuesday 18th January 2005 In Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm. Present: J.Crowden, E.Geddes, A.Swanson, D.Swanson, I.Moodie (Village Officer), A.MacDonald (H.C.Councillor). Apologies: G.Calder, I.Calder, M.Cormack, A.Hill, G.MacLennan, W.Swanson. G.Firth tendered his apologies and also his resignation from the Community Council, due to work commitments. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM. The minutes of the last meeting held on 30th November 2004 were read and agreed as a true record. 3/PROPOSED NEW BASKETBALL/ SPORTS AREA. Community Council members decided not to continue with their plans for the above project. If it was to go ahead it would not be with the total approval of the neighbouring residents and also the cost was another factor. £2000 received from the Highland Council will now be returned. It was also said that the fence around the putting Green had been partly removed. It was agreed to remove the remaining part and the shed. 4/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE. The recent stormy weather has caused considerable damage around the Harbour, one corner is particularly dangerous. Part of the Heritage Trail has also been washed away. Sand- End Car Park affected. Mr. Macdonald to contact the roads department, so that the damage can be assessed. The state of some council tenants ‘gardens’ is a proper disgrace. Mr. MacDonald asked to check this out. Notice Board and opening from Car Park to Mace Shop seems to be on a very lengthy list and getting no where. Members advised to write to the PFTA to see if they can in conjunction with the Safer Routes to School campaign take forward the request for a footpath from the Seaforth Motel to Battery Road. Action A.M, I.M, J.C. 5/CASTLEHILL HARBOUR TRUST Meeting to be held mid to end February. If the public do not come forward and the Trust is not re-formed the harbour could close. Money which has been received on behalf of the harbour trust for its part in a beach- clean is at the moment being held by the community council. Action A.M. 6/SCOTTISH WATER: WASTE WATER TREATMENT. Work has been delayed, but should start in March. Completion date will now of course not be this summer as previously stated. Representative from Sepa to be invited to the February meeting. Action J.C. 7/WIND FARMS. Nothing to Report. 8/CORRESPONDENCE. Letters received were discussed and noted as follow:
9/AOCB. Members agreed to make an application to Scottish Natural Heritage for funding in order to proceed with plans to plant trees and shrubs around the village. It is hoped to begin the work during the summer. Action J.C. Village Officer’s payment to be reviewed. Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Thursday 17th February 2005 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall. The meeting closed at 21:15hrs. |
