Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 17th February 2005

In Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The minutes of the last meeting held on 18th January 2005 were read and agreed as a true record.

3/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE.

Parking at the Mace Shop, Opening from Car Park and Change of Position for Notice Board on the Council Agenda for attention shortly. Wheelie Bin at Sand End once again had been burnt. Footbridge at beach in need of attention, concrete slabs flaking away. Burn full of seaweed and rubbish. Flooding at top end of bottom half of Mackay Street, top half of Traill Street and Butcher Shop causing a problem. As gullies had been cleared, it must be the drains. An improvement in the state of council tenant’s gardens was reported.

4/ CASTLEHILL HARBOUR TRUST.

Meeting hopefully to be held early March. Press report week of meeting.

5/ SCOTTISH WATER: WASTE WATER TREATMENT.

No further forward.

6/ WIND FARMS.

Correspondence had been received from DP Energy. Number of wind turbines to be increased, but they will be smaller in height. Slight change of location, but still visible from Castletown.

7/ CORRESPONDENCE.

  • Report from Corus regarding Railways. Proposed 2 – 2 ½ hours journey to Inverness.
  • Letter from S.Malcolm, Castletown School outlining plans of a 20mph speed limit while youngsters are going to and coming from school. However no mention was made of the path from Seaforth Motel to Battery Road.
  • SNH will provide 50 per cent funding towards the cost of small trees, shrubs, bird boxes etc. Mary Legg will oversee this project which will go ahead in the summer. Members agreed to give a donation to this scheme.
  • NHS 24. Garry Coutts urged people who have had problems to let them know.
  • Scottish Health Council. Single Health Council for Scotland.
