8/AOCB.

Problems with the train taking a group of Scouts back to Caithness resulted in the passengers having to get off the train at Georgemas and finish their journey by bus.

Query from D.Swanson.

As there were not enough mini buses, why could the people for Thurso not have remained on the train and as there were fewer passengers for Wick, they could have used the bus.

Apparently Wick is the end of the line and the train has to travel there to complete it’s journey.

Buses on the County Show Day were not adequate. Extra buses were put on at existing times but none going home. As previously reported Highland County Buses admitted it “got it wrong” and promised to do better in future.

No timetable in the bus shelter near Somerfield Wick, responsibility lies with the Highland Council.

Another complaint raised was that the 10:25am bus from John O’Groats to Thurso is regularly late. Suggestion made that as all buses come from John O’Groats, would it be possible for them to go to the school and turn before continuing up the Main Street.

Support from Community Councillors for the erection of houses at the former Seaforth Motel.

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Tuesday 13th September 2005 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall.

The meeting closed at 21:15hrs.
