Minutes of January meeting

Minutes of meeting held on Tuesday 17th January 2006 in the Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

Present:

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The minutes of the last meeting held on 29th November 2005 were read and agreed as a true record.

Putting Field – removal of posts and remaining part of fence. Awaiting attention.

Metal Bins – placing of metal bins at the Sand-End and Heritage Trail car parks not definite.

Flooding at Butcher Shop – tarring road is on the programme – possibly Spring time.

Cutting back of trees on Wick road – no further forward.

Cemetery – planting of trees and shrubs – in hand.

Castlehill Harbour Road – Work should start March to April time.

CORWN – questionnaire received and comments noted.

3/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATES

Car Park – recycling area becoming a dumping ground. Road around harbour in a terrible mess, grass areas very muddy. Trees in plantation in a dangerous condition. Cemetery a total disgrace. Parking at Chip Shop and Chinese Take Away making difficult for other cars to get by. Suggested a lay by to ease congestion. Also something to be done at the bottom of the island as lorries are creating a gutter when turning. Signs showing one way system could be better positioned.

4/CASTLEHILL HARBOUR TRUST

No further forward. Difficulty in getting all office bearers.

5/SCOTTISH WATER: WASTE WATER TREATMENT

Tanks in place. Sepa still not given discharge consents. Project due to be complete in March.

6/WIND FARMS

No further word of Durran Wind Farm. Response to renewable energy strategy good. Highland Council meeting in Inverness on 22nd March 2006.

7/”WHAT’S ON EVENT”

Saturday 21st January 2006. Drill Hall, 12noon until 2pm.

15 Organisations had replied to letter. Arrangements were made for catering etc.

Letters received were discussed and noted as follows:

  • New Dog Warden – Ann Begg. Will meet with I.Moodie to discuss dog fouling and litter.
  • Dounreay – Public Participation Newsletter including a UKAEA Particles Consultation questionnaire.
  • Dounreay Particles Technical Regime – Locations of particles recovered, monitoring etc.
  • Planning Application for house on land not zoned for housing.
  • City Link – removal of buses without informing public. Letter to be written to A.Goodall.
