Minutes of April meeting

Minutes of meeting held on Tuesday 18th April 2006 in the Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

2/ MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The minutes of the last meeting held on 21st March 2006 were read and agreed as a true record.

Cemetery – need to arrange raised bed for middle cemetery. Trees have been planted around bus shelter on Main Street

Testing at Former Refuse Tip – nothing serious found. Awaiting reply from Ian Hargrave.

3/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE.

Path at West End finished. Levelling of ground at other side of road requested. Grass cutting around Harbour Road will be difficult due to the condition of the ground. Still no notice board for car park. No bins at Sand End or Harbour Road car parks. Fly tipping a problem. Dog fouling – members informed that two people in Castletown have to pay fixed penalty fines after not cleaning up after their dogs. Horse muck on the pavement also reported. Condition of the graves at Olrig Cemetery a disgrace.

4/ POLICE REPORT

Report of incidents, general complaints etc. which had taken place during February and March.

5/CASTLEHILL HARBOUR TRUST

Only option, meeting of the trustees to establish whether they accept responsibility of the harbour or close the harbour. A management committee needs to be in place. Meeting to be arranged.

6/SCOTTISH WATER: WASTE WATER TREATMENT.

Letters received were discussed and noted as follow:

  • Public Consultation – low level waste – response form passed to all present.
  • Strategy for a Scotland with an Aging Population. Questionnaire completed.
  • Highland Council Funding for Play Areas. Grants of up to 50% of the cost. A Macdonald to find out more information.
  • Rail Future – no current plans for free travel for the elderly etc

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Tuesday 16th May 2006 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall.
