2/MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The minutes of the last meeting held on 16th May 2006 were read and agreed as a true record.

Withdrawal of Community Skip – reason given to save money. Bulky uplifts carried out on a weekly basis still free.

Speed limit – location of “Smiley Face” not known.

3/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATES.

First bridge over burn at Sand - End in need of repair. Is it the responsibility of the Council?

Have not cut part of Trail where salmon nets will be located. Have stopped cutting grass at Garth and Waitside, due to the trees needing to be cut back and it is dangerous. Parts of the sides of Harbour road cannot be cut, due to the condition left by the Contractor.

Village a lot cleaner since Dog Warden – Ann Begg has been on duty. One has been charged with illegal dumping, with two pending.

Improvements to Wick road are needed.

Letters received were discussed and noted as follows.

• Highland Council: amended plan for Castlehill Housing development. Road will have to be widened and a footpath constructed from Castlehill Avenue downwards. Discussed the possibility of the Council doing something similar from Castlehill Avenue to Traill Street.
• Scottish Executive: Consultation Document. Transport throughout Scotland.
• Clean Coast Scotland: Re – appraisal of Dunnet Bay’s Designation under the Bathing Water Directive. Submission to remain a Designated Area. Check Councils reply.
