Minutes of October meeting

Minutes of meeting held on Tuesday 3rd October 2006 in the Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

1/Present:

2/MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM.

The minutes of the last meeting held on 15th August 2006 were read and agreed as a true record.

Speed Limit - "Smiley Face" appears to have vanished from the village.

First bridge over burn at Sand End - Name of owner needs to be established. Rotten spars need replacing.

Clean Coast Scotland - Council have replied.

3/TRAILL HALL UPDATES.

R Cox and S Jones from the Casper Club gave the members an up to date report on the progress being made with the Traill Hall. It was hoped that a new management committee would be formed to hold the deeds etc. of the building and new trustees in place of Sir Stephen Young and Rev Jim Todd. A feasibility study to be carried out fairly shortly. All together a big project, requiring money and the support of the village.

4/ POLICE REPORT

Police have a large area to cover. Parents must accept some of the responsibility as to where their children are. People should report incidents when they occur. During the month of October, police are to be extra vigilant.

At this point E Sibley spoke of the many problems her family are having to endure at the hands of unruly youngsters.

5/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATES.

Grass cutting almost finished. Request for manholes and gullies to be cleaned (Battery Road to Hotel). Cutting of trees - Coach Walk etc, Harland Road, School to Garth. Parking of caravans in front gardens of council houses - is this allowed?

9/AOCB.

Community Council elections will be held at the end of November 2006. Letters to be sent to all organisations asking for a representative to attend community council meetings.

Being no further business the date for the Inaugural meeting of the Castletown and District Community Council was set for Tuesday 12th December 2006 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall. This meeting to be followed by the Annual General Meeting and the December meeting
