Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 31st May 2007 in the Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

2/MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM:

The minutes of the last meeting held on 26th April 2007 were read and agreed as a true record.

Bridges at Sand End – Funding may be available to replace the footbridges.

3/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATES

No Report

4/POLICE REPORT

Brief overview of incidents that have occurred in the village and surrounding areas in May. Incidents include a continuous problem with youths. The youth letters scheme is still being utilised on occasions when appropriate. No decrease in traffic outside the shop, police to visit new shop owners and request to post a notice in the window to ask motorists to stop parking outside the shop when visiting the premises.

  • John Brown – Spittal Windfarm Opposition Group – Letter to be sent to Scottish Executive in support of the SWOG, loss of amenity, visual impact, wrong place, noise and flicker are just some of the potential problems

  • Highland Council - David Sutherland, Ward Manager, Thurso, Wick and Landward Caithness - will attend the June meeting, introducing himself and a selection of the new landward councillors.

Both G.Campbell and R.Taylor had made contact with D.Fraser regarding housing developments.

A complaint arose regarding unreliable bus services through the village. Contact to be made with Highland Country Buses’, Thurso based manager Veda Swanson.

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Tuesday 26th June 2007 at 7:00pm in the Castletown Drill Hall.
