Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 29th May 2008
in the Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

2/ MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS
ARISING FROM THEM:
The minutes of the last meeting held on
24th April 2008 were read and
agreed as a true record.
- Amenity skip- contact
to be made with TEC services.
- Double yellow lines-
TEC services still in the process of applying for a new traffic order
for parking restrictions in the area of the shop and hotel junction.
- Ground at Harland
Road- has been cleared and ready for village officer to look after.
- Picnic tables- benches
at harbour area to be repaired; benches at sand-end to be replaced. Will
be paid from the discretionary budget.
- Replacement bin requested for sand-end.
- Car park at post office - hopefully action will be taken shortly.
- Seaforth motel housing site - each house to be individually named.
3/ VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATES
Grass cutting continues. Levelling of ground, school to Tansfield area
being attended to. Levelling of ground at Westend requested.
4/ POLICE REPORT
No report.
5/ NEW MOWER
Funding a problem. No monies being paid from discretionary budget for
mowers at present as discretionary budget may have to fund village
officers. Highlands and Islands have withdrawn their funding for village
officers. Leader plus may be another possible source of funding.
6/ CORRESPONDENCE
Letters received were discussed and noted as follows:
- NHS Team update May 2008
- UKAEA Today April 2008
- Highland Council
licensing (Scotland) Act 2005- conversion applications for premises
licenses.
- Highland Council
consultation on draft model scheme and draft code for community
councils.
- Scottish Government - consultation on the Education Act 2004 and Amendment Bill 2008.
- Scottish Government - Safer Scotland licensing Act 2005 leaflets.
7/ AOCB
- Letter from Mrs. Hoskin 16 Harland Road- request for someone to look
after path used as a shortcut to Harland Road. The path has been created
by the residents and therefore belongs to the residents.
- Johnson controls want to do something for the Castletown community
and are keen to refurbish the bridges at the beach. Negotiations are
ongoing with the Highland Council and David Barclay Access Officer.
- School speed limit- request for 20mph to operate when playgroup is
coming out at 11:30am.
- Attention brought to the fact that there is no footpath from 14
Murrayfield to Ice Tech Factory. TEC services to be consulted.
- Problem with over hanging trees at St. Clair Cottage. Letter to be
written to owners.
Being no further business the dates for the next 2 meetings were set
for Thursday 26th June 2008 & Thursday 28th
August 2008 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall.
The meeting closed at 20:45hrs.
