Minutes of August meeting

Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 28th August 2008 in the Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

Present:

2/MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM:

The minutes of the last meeting held on 26th June 2008 were read and agreed as a true record.

  • Over hanging trees had now been dealt with.
  • Traffic calming measures - hopefully someone from roads and transport will come and talk to us at either the September or October meeting.
  • Replacement of three bridges at the beach - still ongoing, due to the poor attendance at the meeting no further decision made.

3/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATES

Grass cutting continues. One car had been removed from the harbour area. Complaint about the weeds at the sides of the road noted.

4/POLICE REPORT

Brief overview of calls received at Thurso Police Station in relation to incidents that have occurred in the village and surrounding areas over the last two months read to all present, also future plans of sub-area officers.

5/NEW MOWER

New mower had been purchased at a cost of £642.75. £500 interim payment received from Highland Council towards village officers funding.

6/CORRESPONDENCE

Due to chairman being absent no correspondence was discussed.

7/AOCB

  • Highland Council are to replace existing tourism signs in Castletown with bilingual signs.
  • An open meeting will be held in the Drill Hall on Thursday 11th September, 2008 at 7.30pm. Ed Taylor, Dominic Fairlie and Raymond Taylor will all be present at this meeting.

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Thursday 25th September 2008 at 7:30pm in the Castletown Drill Hall.

The meeting closed at 20:25hrs.
