Minutes of September meeting

Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 7th October 2010 in the Castletown Drill Hall at 7:30pm.

2/MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING AND MATTERS ARISING FROM THEM:

The minutes of the last meeting were read and agreed as a true record.

  • Proposed development at Castlehill: no further word.
  • Creation of a Community Woodland in the Plantation: no further forward.
  • Water running on the road opposite the School Car Park had been reported to Scottish Water.
  • Erection of a fence at 2 Harland Road had now taken place with height issues having been resolved.
  • Highland Council Quality Awards 2010: two nominations attended to.

3/VILLAGE OFFICER UPDATE:

No report available.

4/POLICE REPORT

Reports for the months of August and September were read to all present. The reports covered the whole of Caithness and contained incidents of note during the past months, future events and issues for discussion and a table showing all calls that police officers have dealt with in all areas of Caithness.

At this point speeding was again discussed with several issues being raised. Smiley face at West End of village not working, to be reported.

5/CORRESPONDENCE

  • NHS Team Update - August.
  • DSRL - Dounreay Heritage Strategy.
  • Dunnet Forest - Appeal for volunteers for Sunday 10th October 2010.
  • Highland Council Community Council Elections 2010.

6/AOCB

Matters discussed:

Community Council boundaries are under review. Keiss Community Council hope to reform, meaning that Dunnet will stay the way it is.

The official notice inviting nominations will appear in the press on 8th October 2010. Nomination forms will be available from the Wick and Thurso Service Points and have to be returned by 22nd October 2010. No meetings to be held in November.

Discussion on Council cutbacks took place: Uplift of bins: would have to be supplied with a bin with a blue lid in order to re-cycle properly. Lights: preferred option, put out every second light.

Being no further business the date for the next meeting was set for Tuesday 26th October 2010 at 7.30pm in the Drill Hall, Castletown.

The meeting closed at 20:45hrs.
